Regulations, Approved Emirates, and How to Fly Legally
Drones are becoming increasingly popular in the UAE for recreational use, content creation, and aerial exploration. One of the most common questions we receive is:
“Are Antigravity drones allowed to be flown in the UAE, and what are the rules?”
This guide clearly explains where Antigravity drones can be flown, which authorities regulate them, and the exact steps required to fly legally in the UAE.
Are Antigravity Drones Legal in the UAE?
Yes. Antigravity drones are legal for sale in the UAE and are officially MOIAT (Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology) certified, which means they meet the country’s safety and compliance standards for commercial distribution.
In addition, Antigravity drones are approved by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) for recreational flying in several Emirates, subject to registration and compliance with regulations.
However, flying permissions vary by Emirate, and this distinction is very important.
Where Can Antigravity Drones Be Flown in the UAE?
✅ Approved Emirates (GCAA Jurisdiction)
Recreational flying of Antigravity drones is currently permitted only in the following Emirates, subject to successful GCAA registration and approval:
-
Abu Dhabi
-
Al Ain
-
Sharjah
-
Ajman
-
Umm Al Quwain
-
Ras Al Khaimah
-
Fujairah
Flights must be conducted only within authorized zones and in compliance with GCAA rules.
❌ Dubai (DCAA Jurisdiction)
As of 2 February, Antigravity drones are NOT permitted to be flown in Dubai.
-
Dubai airspace is regulated by the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA).
-
Approval from DCAA for Antigravity drones is currently pending.
-
Until an official update is issued, recreational flying in Dubai is restricted, even if the drone is GCAA-approved.
We strongly advise customers not to fly Antigravity drones anywhere within Dubai airspace until DCAA approval is formally announced.
Why Is Dubai Different?
The UAE operates under multiple aviation authorities:
-
GCAA governs most Emirates
-
DCAA governs Dubai exclusively
Even if a drone is:
-
MOIAT certified for sale
-
Approved by GCAA
It still requires DCAA authorization to fly legally in Dubai.
This is why a drone may be legal in Abu Dhabi or Sharjah but restricted in Dubai.

Flying legally is straightforward if you follow the correct process.
